Let’s Talk About It… Money

How many times have you decided not to invest in something because of the cost!? I am sure it is a lot. I know for me I always have a hard time investing in something when it cost more than what I am willing to pay. I know, I know… Money is a sensitive subject. I get it. I have been there and sometimes I still get caught up in budgeting and money. We live in a society where our lives tend to revolve around money. Our jobs, bills, eating, holidays, extracurriculars, and many other things that we tend to get caught up in.

So let’s have an honest conversation, like for real.

I have been so guilty of this too, so don’t feel bad. I would get asked over and over again about joining something or investing in something and I would tell them, “No, not right now because I don’t have the money to do it.” Soon after I would tell them no, I would turn around and buy something online or spend $15-$20 on a meal or even buy Starbucks almost daily… Now, I don’t know about you but how can one say they don’t have money to invest in something and then turn around and spend “said money they don’t have” on buying clothes or material items that won’t last, meals that they could cook at home for less, or on a daily Starbs run… Don’t come for me, haha

So fun fact, let’s use Starbucks as an example:

Did you know that if you are someone that loves coffee and travels to Starbucks daily you probably spend $3-$9 for just one drink!? That’s right, just one. That is a LOT of money to spend on one drink. For fun, let’s say you do this every day for a month… that’s $90-$270 a month. HOLY COW! When you look at it that way, it is a lot of money spent in one month. Now I know you probably aren’t going every single day, but let’s think about if you added a breakfast sandwich or you forgot your lunch at work… it tends to add up.

So by this time I am sure you are thinking, “Megan, where is this going!?!?”.

I always get the questions of how much does “xyz” cost when it comes to enrollment for my online wellness group!? In return, I hear “Oh that’s a lot of money.” Believe me, I understand. It’s an investment for sure. But have you ever broken down the price? Say that you take the $160 value pack and divided if by 30 days… that’s roughly $5 a day. And you actually get quite a bit of stuff! How many times a day do you spend at least $5? You don’t even think twice about it. I know money is a touchy subject, I know. But what is the value of your life worth!? When it comes to investing in yourself, it’s not just a one time payment. It is a life of happiness, healthy living, self-love, confidence, keeping up with kids, having a supportive community and so much more!

Why is it so easy for us to drop money on things that do not benefit us, but yet we have a hard time investing our money into a healthy lifestyle… Think about that.

Personally, I wanted to invest in myself so that I can be the best person for my husband, for our future kids, and for myself. I need to give my all, every day! So when you take the money out of the scenario… are you still willing to invest in yourself?
